3D photography workshops to KS2 and over.

In this 2-day workshop children use small stereo film cameras to take their own 3D pictures; then they use school computers and free software to process them. The results can be viewed on screen, projected onto a whiteboard or, if re-scanned and enlarged, printed out in large format for exhibition.

This is an excellent cross-curricular opportunity, taking in aspects of Art, IT, History and Science. It also makes an ideal "Gifted and Talented" project.

Day 1: A short lesson in what makes a good 3D picture, then work in small groups taking pictures.

Day 2: A 35 minute lesson on 3-dimensional vision and photography, an introduction to the software; then work in small groups processing and choosing the best pictures.

Numbers: By its nature, with children roaming around the school or the local area, this is a small-group activity. Groups of around 6 are ideal and we can work with 2 or 3 groups in a day.

Cost: £200 per day (minimum of 2 days) plus film and processing costs (about £6 per 24 shot film plus any printing and negative scanning costs).

Here are some examples of images taken by Year 6 children at Headingley Primary School.
